    Artist's Insight

My work is designed to be physically interactive, so the audience can carefully touch, interact and/or rearrange to create their preferred form.

Referencing the head pain (as distinct from a “headache”) I use a term to describe the type and intensity of pain experienced daily, a “BOLT”.

Carved from a single granite pebble, the comparison of an extremely hard material with the softness of the human brain is not accidental, nor is the grey colour representing “grey matter”.

We all have positive & negative memories, thoughts and experiences throughout our lives that are stored within our brains, the Penny has as many as I do, dated 1965.

The scratches on the base are a 1:1 scale of the self-harm applied to my forearm to distract from extreme head pain.

Please ask me if you are interested in more insights as I love sharing “my thoughts”.
